Introduction

Migrating means bringing the data you already hold into N3O Cloud: your donors, their giving history, and the rest of what your charity has built up over the years. Your supporter and giving records land in Engage, the CRM within it.

Who you work with​

Migration is part of onboarding, and N3O does it with you. You are given an onboarding account manager at the start, and they are who you deal with throughout. They work out what you hold today and where it lives, plan how it comes across, and stay with you while it does. Anything you are unsure about goes to them.

How your data comes across​

Your data moves in bulk, and the work runs in stages your account manager takes you through:

  • Extracting it from the system you use today.
  • Cleaning it, so what comes across is what you want to keep.
  • Transforming it into the shape it needs to take.
  • Importing it into Engage, in bulk.

What else comes across​

The records are the obvious part of a migration. The connections around them are easy to overlook, and they come across too: your payment methods, your email provider, Google Tag Manager, and the other external services you rely on.

Your website comes with you as well. It is integrated into Engage so that the donations it takes arrive as records, and that integration is covered in Website Integration.

N3O also helps you migrate the subscriptions already running with your payment gateway. What is possible differs from one gateway to the next, so your account manager establishes what yours allows.

Anything else your charity holds in another system can come across as well. Your account manager and your team go through what you are connected to, and N3O migrates what needs to come with you.

Where charities migrate from​

Charities come from all sorts of systems, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Beacon and Dynamics, and from systems a charity had built for itself. The system you use today does not have to be one N3O has migrated from before.

Some charities arrive with no system at all. Their records are in spreadsheets, or spread across several of them. That is a migration too, and it is scoped and planned the same way.
