How a crowdfunder works

Once a supporter has created their crowdfunder (see Creating a crowdfunder), this is how it behaves — the goal it raises towards, how the supporter edits it, and how it eventually closes.

The goal

A crowdfunder raises towards a goal: a target amount tied to one of the campaign's offerings, set from the amount the supporter entered when they created it.

The target is not fixed. While the crowdfunder is live, the supporter can change it whenever they like — most often to raise it after passing the original figure, which gives supporters a fresh milestone to aim for.

Editing the page

The supporter edits their own crowdfunder on the page itself, once signed in: a Content tab and a Goals tab, with a live preview. Only the owner — the account that created it, or the invited email address — can make changes. Each save republishes the page, and renaming it changes its web address, though the old address keeps working so links already shared still resolve.

When it closes

A crowdfunder closes on its own after a spell of inactivity — by default about a month after its last donation, then a short grace period. A countdown appears as that point nears, and a closed crowdfunder still shows what it raised. If a supporter needs more time, your team can help.
