Turning on crowdfunding

Crowdfunding is switched on for one campaign at a time. Before it can be, the campaign needs to meet two conditions.

What a campaign needs first

• At least one offering that allows crowdfunding. Crowdfunding raises money towards a goal, and a goal has to point at something specific to fund — an offering. You mark an offering as available by turning on its Allow crowdfunding setting. Until one offering allows it, crowdfunding cannot be switched on. Allowing crowdfunding on an offering only makes it eligible as a goal; it does not by itself turn crowdfunding on.
• A kind of campaign that can crowdfund. Standard, telethon and qurbani campaigns can all be crowdfunded. A giving campaign cannot.

Switching it on

On an N3O-built site, turning on crowdfunding means creating a crowdfunding page for the campaign and publishing it. Because that is an editing task, the steps live in the Websites section: Editing crowdfunding. Once it is published, the campaign appears under /fundraising and supporters can start their own pages.
