My Account

My Account is the page a donor opens from a link you send them. A pay link opens it on a donation they still owe, so they can pay it. A renewal link opens it on their sponsorships, so they can renew them. The link itself tells the page whose account it is, so the donor needs no password and no login of their own.

The page is created for you on your platform pages, at /my-account on your pages domain, and every link opens it. There is no embed code to copy. Links can be made only once your platform pages are published with a domain.

A link works for 14 days from the moment it is made. Each link you copy, and each email that carries one, gets a link made at that moment, so a link copied today works for two weeks from today.

When a donor opens a link that has expired, the page asks them to confirm who they are with a one-time code. They enter their email address or phone number, then the code they receive, and the page carries on as it would have done with a new link. The page asks for a code only once. If the link still cannot be used after that, the donor sees the message for nothing to pay or nothing to renew, described below.

Paying a donation

A pay link opens the page on one donation. The donor sees its reference and the date it was made, what it was given to, and the amount still to pay. The Pay button takes them to checkout with their details already filled in, and their payment is added to that donation.

If there is nothing left to pay, for example because the donation was paid after the link was sent, the page says "There is nothing to pay on this link. If you think this is a mistake, please contact us." Where you have published a support page, a Contact us link takes the donor to it.

Renewing sponsorships

A renewal link opens the page on the donor's sponsorships. It lists every sponsorship on their account that can be renewed, grouped by currency, each with its end date. A sponsorship is already ticked when the link was sent for it or when it is ending soon, and the donor can tick or untick any of them.

For each ticked sponsorship, the donor chooses how long to renew it for and sees the date it will then end. A sponsorship that is still running is extended, and one that has ended is resumed. The Renew button takes them to checkout. Each currency has its own button, so sponsorships in different currencies are paid for in separate checkouts.

If nothing can be renewed, the page says "This link has expired or has nothing left to renew."

A donor who opens My Account without a link is asked for a reference instead: one of their sponsorships, their account, or someone they sponsor. After a one-time code, they see the sponsorships they can renew.

Links reach donors through your own emails. Engage can send a link from a donation or a sponsorship, and every link is also a merge field, so any email template on the right model can include one. The fields, and which emails can use them, are described in Sending Pay Links and Renewal Reminders and Renewal Links.
