Donation form

The donation form is how a visitor actually gives. One appears on every campaign page and every offering page, and the same form can be embedded anywhere else on your site. It is short by design: fewer decisions between a visitor and a completed gift means more gifts completed. A few of those decisions are yours to set.

MockupA donation form: the give-once / regular-giving choice, suggested amounts, a box for any other amount, and — where you use them — a gift type.

Give once, or give regularly

Every form offers two ways to give: a single gift, or a regular one that repeats each month. The donor chooses between them at the top of the form. Each way has its own set of suggested amounts, because what makes sense as a one-off, say £100, is rarely what makes sense every month.

Suggested amounts

Suggested amounts are the quick buttons a donor can pick instead of typing — for example £25, £50, £100. You set them per offering, and separately for one-off and for regular giving. A donor can always enter a different figure in the "other amount" box, so the suggestions are a prompt, not a limit. Choose amounts that reflect what the offering actually costs. A figure tied to a real outcome, such as "£50 feeds a family for a week", gives better than a round number with no meaning behind it.

Gift type

If your charity collects gifts under named types, such as a general gift or a gift in memory, the form can offer the donor a gift type to choose, and you set which type an offering suggests.

The notes field

An offering can invite a short note from the donor, such as a dedication or a message with the gift, and you control the label it shows, for example "Leave a dedication". Leave it off where it is not needed.

Where these are set

Suggested amounts, the gift type and the notes field all belong to the offering, on its Suggestions and Options tabs; the steps are in Editing offerings. To place a form on a page N3O did not build, copy its embed code — see Elements.
